#ConeyRecovers announces regrants to eight faith-based organizations for programming affected by Superstorm Sandy.
CONEY ISLAND, January 27, 2014 – #ConeyRecovers is pleased to announce that $80,000 has been awarded to Coney Island Faith-Based Organizations with support from the American Red Cross and the Brooklyn Recovery Fund.
Grants of up to $3,000 are available to grassroots groups across the city working on projects that support everything from community gardens to tenant organizing, as long as the effort is volunteer-driven and community-based. The Citizens Committee prioritizes groups based in low income neighborhoods and Title I public schools.

Sunset Park Redevelopment Committee (SPRC) is offering upgrades and replacements for heating systems, boilers, and home weatherization to eligible landlords and tenants living in Red Hook all the way to Coney Island. The weatherization grants can assist in paying 30-60%, and in some cases up to 100% of the cost toward energy conservation upgrades. Click here for more information and to apply.

With contributions from supporters like you, we are continuing to help the Coney Island community get back on its feet. In the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, we coordinated over 3,000 volunteers (including many of you!), assisted in the distribution of over 50,000 hot meals, and staged clean-ups in parks, beaches, and streets.
#ConeyRecovers announces additional funding to support physical rebuilding efforts and programming affected by Super Storm Sandy.
CONEY ISLAND, October 9, 2013 – Brooklyn Recovery Fund awarded the #ConeyRecovers collaborative $250,000 for continued relief efforts in Coney Island. These funds will support faith-based organizations, address mental health needs within the community, as well as provide funding for capacity building initiatives, and support staffing coordination through Coney Corps for rebuilding efforts.
United Way of New York City (UWNYC) invites NYC health and human services agencies to submit proposals for Hurricane Sandy related activities.
UWNYC will make individual grants to community-based organizations providing services to individuals impacted by the hurricane or to community-based organizations that are in need of infrastructure support to rebuild. Grants will be issued in all 5 boroughs.
When our officers were totally destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, our entire infrastructure was lost, including our telephone system. One of the first priorities after the storm was the implementation of a temporary cloud-based telephone system- thus enabling contact with clients and funding sources.
Funds received from Alliance for Coney Island were utilized to cover a portion of the cost of maintaining this cloud-based telephone system that support approximately forty (40) users enabling vital services for thousands of clients.

New Church International used the funds to serve the Coney Isalnd community by providing pantry bags to approximately 16,000 Coney Islanders where 60% are children and 40% are adults and seniors. Congrats on your amazing work!
