#ConeyRecovers Collaborative Receives $250,000 Grant from Brooklyn Recovery Fund
#ConeyRecovers announces additional funding to support physical rebuilding efforts and programming affected by Super Storm Sandy.
CONEY ISLAND, October 9, 2013 – Brooklyn Recovery Fund awarded the #ConeyRecovers collaborative $250,000 for continued relief efforts in Coney Island. These funds will support faith-based organizations, address mental health needs within the community, as well as provide funding for capacity building initiatives, and support staffing coordination through Coney Corps for rebuilding efforts.
BCS Mural Contest Deadline Extended to Friday, October 11th
BCS needs your help finding artists who are trying to get recognition for their work and are willing to donate their creativity to support BCS and the Coney Island community. Submissions should evoke one of three themes: Community, Resilience, or Peace. We are extending the deadline for submissions to Friday, October 11, and looking for supporters to:
· Submit designs themselves.
· Forward this email to their artist friends.
· Share/Like the Mural Contest posts on BCS' Facebook.
· Let their artist friends know about the contest and deadline.
Deadline for Submissions
The deadline for submissions has been extended to Friday, October 11th at 5pm. Winners will be notified by Tuesday, October 15th. Artists, along with BCS volunteers, will reproduce the design on an upcoming day in October. The winning designs will appear on Surf Ave between 20th and 21st Street.
