Grantee Spotlight: Friends of Kaiser Park

Each week we will be highlighting some of the great work and progress being made by some of our grantees.

The grant money was used to replace some of our equipment for our movie night that we have in the park. We replaced a projector $1204.99, air movie screen $479.00, speaker PA system $168.88, microphone $ 54.95, extension cords $ 41.48 and also for our egg hunt event on March 16, 2013, and banners $520.00. We have so much more to replace and rebuild our meeting place in time we will.

Coney Island Strong

Hurricane Sandy was a disaster; and full recovery, a challenge. But thanks to the tireless efforts of so many, strong local community-based organizations, the neighborhood is recovering and proving its resilience. We will continue to tell the stories of these groups, and share with you their needs.

To learn more about the local CBOs, faith-based organizations, and individuals that make Coney Island strong, visit our Partners page and click through to their websites to learn more.

The Parks Department and the Department of Design and Construction are committed to reopening Brooklyn’s beaches by Memorial Day. To accomplish this goal in such a short time, we will need to perform pile driving operations and other noisy construction work 24 hours a day, for a few days at a time, at several locations along the beach.

For more information or to sign up for e-mail alerts, please visit the project’s website:
