Save the Children has announced a new grant opportunity that may be of interest to some of the local organizations that serve youth in Coney Island.

The Save the Children Emergency Recovery Grant Program
The purpose of the grant program is to help restore access to child care, out-of-school programs and Pre-K-12 schools, filling a gap left by insurance and federal aid.
Please note: Save the Children will not consider requests related to renovation/construction.
Examples of eligible support include but are not limited to: program materials and supplies, temporary space rental, child-specific furniture and play-related equipment, extra-curricular and/or short-term developmental programs for children, and books.

The application for students to sign-up for the Summer Youth Employment Program is on May 10th. It is open to any NYC residents aged 14-24.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management is currently recruiting new members for their CERT teams! Community Emergency Response Teams are a critical piece of a community’s ability to respond quickly after a storm like Hurricane Sandy. More info here and below.
