Not Too Late to Declare Sandy Losses

In the case of a federally declared disaster, taxpayers with casualty losses that occurred in an area warranting public or individual assistance (or both) may deduct that loss on their tax return or amended return for the tax year immediately preceding the tax year in which the disaster happened. The loss is then treated as having occurred in the preceding year. Click here for more information.

Astella Development Corp. and the Food Bank for NYC are offering free tax preparation at the #ConeyRecovers headquarters at 1701 Surf Ave. on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am - 1 pm until April 15th. We can prepare your return if your income is below $50,000 and you claim dependents or your income is below $18,000 and you claim no dependents.
